Safety
FAQ:
Q:
Is
the paint used on the toys you sell nontoxic?
A:
Yes!
All paints, coloring, and finishes are nontoxic and safe for children.
Q:
A
toy on your site is recommended for Ages 3 years and up. My child is
only 2 but very advanced. Is it ok for my child to play with this toy?
A:
Age
recommendations on toys are based on a number of factors. One very important
factor is whether or not the toy poses a choking hazard. Any toy labeled
for Ages 3 years and up MAY pose a choking hazard. Therefore, we suggest
that any toy labeled 3 years and up should only be used by a child of
that age and with proper adult supervision. Small parts may cause a
choking hazard.
Q:
A
toy on your site is recommended for Ages 2 years and up. My child is
only 18 months but very advanced. Is it OK for my child to play with
this toy?
A:
Yes.
A toy that is labeled for use for a child YOUNGER than 3 years has been
evaluated and deemed not to be a choking hazard. Therefore, it is safe
for a younger child to play with it. The only thing to consider is the
developmental appropriateness for the child.
Q:
What
should I do if a toy breaks?
A:
If
any toy breaks the first thing to do is to take the toy
away from your child right away. Then, please call us at 1-800-807-8821.
Q:
A
toy arrived broken but I think I can repair it. Is that OK?
A:
NO!

Message From Melissa & Doug:
MELISSA
& DOUG SAFETY STATEMENT From day one, we’ve signed our names, Melissa
& Doug, to every product we make. We take that signature seriously ---
it’s our commitment to you that you can trust the products you bring
into your home. As parents, every time we make a product for you, it
also has to pass the test of coming home with us, where we enjoy playing
with these same toys with all six of our children.
No
matter how carefully we design our products, we believe there’s no substitute
for TESTING, TESTING, and MORE TESTING. The key to assuring the safety
of our products is not simply insisting our factories follow our instructions,
but to go one step further and AUDIT, INSPECT, AND TEST, not only once,
but at various phases of the production process. This is something we’ve
always done.
Additionally,
we specifically test our paints and coatings very frequently, to be
sure our toys meet or exceed government recommendations limiting heavy
metals and lead in children’s items. We
have cabinets full of thousands of passing test reports, and these passing
results have been verified by 3rd party independently accredited testing
laboratories, considered by many to be the best scientific laboratories
in the world.
Please
continue to enjoy our toys with confidence, knowing that each and every
time we design and craft a toy, we’re not only making them for you,
but for our own kids too.
